Steven wishes to present one of the stunning (and teasing!) pictures that will appear in his forthcoming book, Things From The Past. He thinks you’ll agree that just the picture alone will make it worth buying!
This is one of many Ian's created for the book, so be sure to look out for release dates/order info appearing on the site very soon! 12/3/06 As the publication date for Things From The Past -- Steven's second book -- draws to a close (September 2006), Steve wishes to share a bit of the magic he's been consistently weaving throughout its pages! Forwarded is a message from artist Ian Simmons, who is providing the exceptional pictures for the book: "Steven first contacted me through a mutual friend - author Paul Kane - and after several emails asked if I would like to contribute illustrations for his next book, 'Things From The Past'. After reading the first story, 'The Last Drive', I enthusiastically agreed to provided several internal illustrations. As the project progressed I suggested also illustrating the book cover. I get a lot of approaches for projects like this and don't always want to be associated with them, however, Steve's descriptive and evocative writing style made it easy for me to come up with images for the stories. The only problem was deciding which passages to illustrate, as each chapter sparked several striking ideas. This is not always the case and it certainly made my job a hell of a lot easier - Steve has a writing style that almost forces images into your head, and he also understands how to pace a story so the reader is never bored." Steve is very pleased with Ian's approach to the book, and is delighted he's on-board with the project. Ian and his spectacular work can be found online at www.dragonart.org.uk. 1/3/06 An mp3 of Steven's BBC Radio Scotland interview is now available to listen to here. 23/2/06 For those that live in Edinburgh, Steven’s pleased to announce that Ottakar’s bookshop situated in Cameron Toll (Savacentre) has A Dead Calmness IN STORE NOW!! Still priced at an affordable £4.99, Ottakar’s are proud to display Steven’s book in their store and have shown keen enthusiasm to aid his writing venture. It is possible that Ottakar’s may run a small launch to coincide with its arrival in their store, so keep checking Steve’s site for further news. He would love to see you attend! Details of the shop can be found at www.ottakars.co.uk 18/2/06 Steven will be appearing on BBC Radio Scotland this Monday the 20th February around lunchtime (sometime between 1:30pm - 2pm) to discuss his new book, himself and future releases and affiliates. Visit www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland for more info. 9/2/06 The annual Dead By Dawn horror event in Edinburgh commences this April 20 th (for four days only) with a whole host of startling names in the industry attending. Steven will be too, and he'll be selling a limited number of his book A Dead Calmness there, so if you haven't got your ticket, GET IT NOW!!! This festival is an astonishing mark on the horror scene (and has been for many years), as it brings together many of its mediums in four separate outings. This year (its 13 th ) sees yet another head-mashing mix of gore and terror as well as the introduction of a spectacular new anthology, hosted by the one and only Ramsey Campbell. Check it out at www.deadbydawn.co.uk 7/2/06 Steven is currently involved with writing his second book, which has a working title of Things From The Past. This unique offering sees the full-length version of The Last Drive (a promising, imaginative story started in A Dead Calmness ) which, he claims, is perhaps the best he's ever written. Included also in this book are two brand new stories that have been in the making since mid-2005. Steven's also let loose some very exciting information about this book; he's been in touch with a talented, respected artist who's promised to provide him with sensational artwork for it (though he won't say whom just yet!). Steven thanks everyone who's supported him this far, and he hopes you will all stay with him for awhile longer. Watch this space! |
